Elite Meetings International, Inc. was born from the realization that no comprehensive resource existed for planners in search of high-end properties for their meetings and incentive travel. While researching available tools, CEO Kelly Foy found that most included only certain brands. Others "recommended" properties for a fee, and many provided data in a way that didn't serve planners.
In 2006, we established Elite Meetings International with the goal of providing a comprehensive, time-saving tool for planners, while helping hoteliers reach this highly qualified audience. The first step in determining what makes an exceptional meeting venue was to establish the Elite Meetings Advisory Board, a team of veteran planners and hoteliers. The board collectively reviews thousands of candidate properties before endorsing a select few—an endorsement that cannot be purchased. As a result, Elite Meetings International becomes the first of its kind to provide planners with credible, peer-rated information about first-class properties.
Packed with information on nearly 200 Elite Certified properties, the 2010 editions of Elite Meetings magazine, a biannual publication designed for meeting planners, by meeting planners, delivers the information and inspiration needed to plan high-end meetings and events.
The EliteMeetings.com Web site—recipient of over 20,000 unique visitors each month—includes a database of more than 900 Elite Certified properties throughout North America. Along with a long list of resources available to planners on-site, cutting-edge technology allows detailed property searches by guest-room count, amenities, location, function space, and "hot dates." Each property page contains photos, at-a-glance data, and informative articles that highlight the property's unique attributes for meetings and events
A three-day, invitation-only event, the Elite Meetings Alliance (EMA) brings prequalified corporate and association planners together with leaders in the luxury hotel industry to foster relationships and conduct business. Complementing a series of prescheduled one-on-one meetings, the agenda goes on to include training sessions, continuing education classes for Certified Meeting Professional credits, guest speakers, and a number of fun networking events and post-meeting activities.
With innovation its driving force, EMI supports the combined community of
meeting and hospitality professionals through the creation of new
technology as well, such as its proprietary FaceTime and SpeedRFP
products. FaceTime—an appointment scheduling and management system—first
debuted at our own Elite Meetings Alliances and has been subsequently
used by MPI and IT&ME to schedule their respective Hosted Buyer events— with
great success. EMI also developed and recently launched SpeedRFP,
the world’s first universal online RFP system. It allows meeting professionals
to transport and submit their meeting, event, or incentive RFPs anywhere
on the Web with a few clicks of the mouse. It’s technology that optimizes
efficiency and will drive a new wave of business between the meeting
and hospitality industries—the primary goal of EMI itself.
