Just an hour’s drive north of Atlanta , Barnsley Gardens Resort transports groups back to a gentler time in Adairsville, Georgia. The accommodations form a charming pedestrian village made up 91 rooms and suites contained in 37 English-style garden cottages. Private porches and rocking chairs flank most of the accommodations, leading to interiors with cozy wood-burning fireplaces, four-poster beds, and claw-footed soaking tubs in period-inspired bathrooms. Views take in the resort’s famous gardens and equally famous Blue Ridge Mountains countryside.

While the vine-covered ruins of an antebellum Manor House lend their magic to outdoor events, indoor gatherings convene in two modern boardrooms, the 1,440-square-foot Town Hall, and the 5,000-square-foot Pavilion warmed by grand stone fireplaces. Dining creates a memorable experience as well. A stone fireplace and glass-enclosed Sun Porch viewing the the Manor House ruins enhance the epicurean experience at the Rice House. For casual dining, the Woodlands Grill offers a delightfully elegant setting for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Corporate groups may find the open-air Beer Garden ideal for themed events or casual dining.

Team-building programs often target The General, a par-72 golf course designed by Jim Fazio, and go on to include quail hunting, sporting clays, and fly-fishing facilitated by expert guides at the Orvis Sporting Center on-site. Group members can also spend time at the spa, doing battle on the paintball range, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, or horseback riding through the Blue Ridge Mountains wilderness.

ADAIRSVILLE, Ga.- Barnsley Gardens Resort is the 2008 recipient of the Georgia Golf Course Owners Association (GGCOA) "Course of the Year" award. It is the second year in a row that a resort course has received this prestigious honor. The Par-72, 7,350-yard, Jim Fazio-designed course, known as The General, was judged on the following criteria: quality of the course, quality of management, significant contribution to the game of golf, significant contribution to its community, and membership in the GGCOA.

Barnsley Gardens Resort is highly praised and respected for its golf program. As a preeminent Southeastern golf destination, The General is no stranger to awards, even though it has only been in play since 1999. This latest achievement caps a list of honors including a 4.5 Star Rating by Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play," "Ranking 5th in Georgia" by Golf Week (2007), "Top 20 in the State" by Golf Digest, and an "Extraordinary" rating by the Zagat Survey of America's Top Golf Courses (2007/2008).

Combining championship-caliber play with spectacular panoramas all nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, The General offers stunning views of mountain peaks and emerald green fairways reminiscent of the courses of Scotland. Jim Fazio designed the course to blend into the natural surroundings, personally selecting the 378 acres that the course occupies. Strategic hazards and dramatic tee shots descending to soft greens draw visitors from all over the world and offer challenges for golfers of all skill levels. Its stunning vistas and exciting play make it one of the Southeast's most sought-after courses.

BARNSLEY GARDENS RESORT DONS A WARDROBE OF BEAUTIFUL BLUES, PINKS, WHITES AND YELLOWS AS SPRING ARRIVES

Special Package for Floral Fans Makes a Visit Even Easier - March 10, 2009

Each spring, Barnsley Gardens Resort becomes awash in bright and beautiful colors as acres of gardens begin showing their blooms. The warm days and cool nights in March and April create the perfect environment to escape to this idyllic north Georgia resort where American Wisteria, Rhododendrons, Daffodils, Dogwoods, Azaleas and more decorate the estate with their stunning blues, pinks, whites and yellows. This spring, the Barnsley in Bloom package offers guests romantic overnight accommodations in a king room suite complete with a wood burning fireplace for $149.50 per person per night and includes a complimentary breakfast at the Woodlands Grill, a half day bike rental for two, and potted shamrocks to take home. The package is available through April 30th.

The best way to experience all of Barnsley's blooms and trees first-hand is to participate in a guided garden tour. The tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and lead guests through the more than 20 gardens scattered throughout the property. During the tour, guests will visit the Heirloom Rose Gardens featuring 37 different varieties of stunning roses; the Cherry Canopy filled with Daffodils, Wood Hyacinths and Columbines; The Boxwood Parterre, which was planted more than 160 years ago and resembles a garden maze; and Princess Alexandra's Iris Bed featuring hundreds of blue and yellow irises that were planted by Prince Albertus Fugger for his wife as a symbol of his love for her.

Barnsley Gardens Resort boasts thousands of blooms every year. All flower beds in the Village and the Boxwood Parterre are planted with 26,000 annuals each spring and fall. The stunning gardens in front of Town Hall receive 3,000 annuals so the beds are always full of bright blossoms. Flowers aren't the only things bringing Barnsley Gardens to life. Arborists can enjoy a variety of stunning tress located around the property. On Conifer Hill, guests can see a spectacular assortment of pine trees in varying sizes. An eye-catching China Fir tree grows near The Ruins and was brought over from the Philippines in 1859 by Godfrey Barnsley, the resort's original proprietor. Silverbell Hill has ties to Native American culture as these beautiful trees surround a spiny tree nicknamed by Native American children as The Devil's Walking Stick due to the sharp spines on its branches.

Renowned American landscape designer Andrew Jackson Downing's unique designs served as the inspiration for Barnsley Gardens Resort. Many of the buildings and gardens on the property resemble Downing's architectural drawings, and his style has been carried over into the Village, where the resort's many cottages are located. A variety of natural plantings and meandering walkways give the Village an aura of a European town, with each building and cottage having its own special theme. From the elements and flowers to the people who have impacted Barnsley Gardens Resort, the estate's garden themes were created for the enjoyment of its visitors. Guests are housed in a variety of cozy cottage accommodations that feature lovely claw-footed bathtubs, king or queen sized beds, and a plethora of windows that light up the room and offer gorgeous views of the property. The cottages also have porches with rocking chairs or swings, perfect for enjoying beautiful spring blooms.

The gardens are not the only impressive spring attraction at Barnsley Gardens Resort. The sprawling 3,300-acre estate provides plenty of exciting outdoor entertainment choices. The General, the Jim Fazio-designed golf course features bent grass greens and stunning vistas of rolling hills and beautiful forests. Off the course, tennis, lawn games, fly-fishing, canoeing and kayaking, and paintball await guests seeking action. Miles of scenic hiking and horseback riding trails offer unique ways to explore the flora and fauna in the surrounding wooded areas. After a day outdoors, The Spa at Barnsley Gardens can pamper guests with an assortment of luxurious treatments that include massages, facials, body wraps, manicures and pedicures.

To reserve the Barnsley in Bloom package, please contact the reservations department at (877) 773-2447 or visit www.barnsleyresort.com.
