Both Golf World and Travel + Leisure GOLF magazine awarded Kingsmill Resort & Spa top honors for having some of the best golf courses and golfing opportunities in the country. This recognition comes just days after GOLF Magazine honored Kingsmill as one of the countrys top 25 golf schools.

Golf Worlds 2009 Readers Choice Awards placed Kingsmill among the top 10 Resort Courses in the country. The recognition was based on criteria ranging from the quality of the courses to the accommodations and practice facilities.

" Were honored by the survey results, and we think it proves Kingsmill is a golfers paradise, said Wayne Nooe, Vice President of Golf & Club Operations at the resort.

The awards from Travel + Leisure GOLF are based on survey results and recognize the resorts commitment to excellence in the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic Region of the country. Kingsmill received four awards from the magazine.

Subscribe - RSS Feed WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Oct. 8, 2008) - GOLF Magazine will recognize Kingsmill Resort's Golf Academy as one of the best in the country in its November issue. This is Kingsmill's first time on the list, which annually highlights the Top 25 golf schools in America.

"There must be hundreds of golf schools competing for this title, which makes us very proud to be recognized by GOLF Magazine," said Chris George, PGA, head of instruction at Kingsmill Resort. "I think it's a reflection of our staff and our program which we've improved dramatically over the past few years."

The magazine's decision is based on player feedback, an extensive application process and golf editors' comments regarding the academy and its amenities. Kingsmill was the only golf academy in Virginia on the list.
Kingsmill's golf instructors have more than 50 years of combined teaching experience. George, a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor with the Titleist Performance Institute, currently teaches all levels of players including a tournament-winning member of the LPGA Tour. All of Kingsmill's instructors use some of the industry's best training equipment, including launch monitors and the K-Vest 3-D computer program. The academy offers classes for full swings, fitness, putting, the short game and strategy.

Earlier this year, Kingsmill launched the Elite Sports Performance Junior Training Center. It's a golf school for up-and-coming juniors who receive private instruction in the golf studio, group practice sessions and monthly assessments of their strength and flexibility.
"Our Junior Training Center is very popular," said George. "Right now, we're training some of the best junior players in the state."
