Resting on the shores of warm and welcoming Bermuda, the Fairmont Southampton is under two hours by plane from most cities in the northeast United States. But convenience is hardly the only reason to choose the resort: from its ultraluxurious guest rooms to the first-class service, Fairmont Southampton turns a business event into a vacation to remember.

The stunning island property holds the distinction of having the largest convention and meeting facilities in Bermuda, and can host gatherings of up to 1,500. But small groups, too, will find themselves well cared for by the experienced staff, who flawlessly facilitate hundreds of meetings each year. Notably, the Fairmont Southampton offers more than a dozen indoor rooms for business affairs, including a regal boardroom and a state-of-the-art multimedia amphitheater, and is equipped to host outdoor events as well.

The Fairmont Southampton is an especially appealing destination for business travelers who wish to make their trip a family affair: while children appreciate the swimming pools and activity center, adults delight in the resort’s Willow Stream spa, the private beach club, as well as exclusive access to championship golf at Riddell’s Bay.

Of course, the resort’s large selection of delectable restaurants thrills guests of all ages. Whether savoring afternoon tea at the Jasmine lounge, fresh seafood at the Ocean Club, sumptuous steaks and chops at the Waterlot Inn, or French cuisine at the esteemed Newport Room, every palate is sure to be pleased.

FAIRMONT’S MEETINGS THAT MATTER PROGRAM MAKES YOUR GATHERING COUNT

Valid From:
12/01/08 to 12/31/09
There is a simple way for groups to make an impact…book a meeting with Fairmont and support the charity of your choice. Responding to an increasing interest on the part of planners to not only mitigate their group’s footprint, but also actively make a positive contribution, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts worldwide* is proud to offer the Meetings That Matter program. Meetings That Matter gives groups an opportunity to help out the community where they’ve enjoyed their stay, or join Fairmont in supporting international organizations that share a commitment to responsible tourism and environmental stewardship around the planet.

The new Meetings That Matter offer is
• available to planners booking a meeting for 2008 or 2009
• requires a minimum of 50 room nights.
• 10% the room revenue** generated by the booking may be used as credit towards another meeting of equal or greater size and value
• or may be donated to a charitable organization.

Planners can determine the charity of choice, whether it is a cause that resonates most strongly with attendees, a local organization in need, or one of Fairmont’s corporate partners, which include the National Geographic Society and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

To learn more, please visit http://fairmont.com/meetingsthatmatter.

The Meetings That Matter offer is valid on all meetings booked and consumed in 2008 or 2009. The ten percent credit can be used for a meeting that would take place by December 2010, or the charitable donation will be made to the charity of choice within thirty days of final payment of the account. Planners must advise of the selection of charitable organization in advance, at the time the contract is signed. The initial meeting and the second meeting to which the ten percent would be credited must be held at the same hotel or resort. The offer is subject to hotel availability, is applicable towards new programs only and not valid for citywide bookings. Meetings That Matter cannot be combined with other special offers.

*This program is valid at all Fairmont properties excluding The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui and The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii.

** The ten percent of room revenue is calculated prior to tax and gratuity.

Makena Golf Courses in Makena, Hawaii, Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C., and Fairmont Southampton Golf Course in Bermuda have been chosen as the winners in the golf club category of the inaugural Golf Inc. Green Awards.

Two other winners were selected by the judges in other categories. They included Troon Golf, top finisher among operators and associations and W.R. Love Golf Course Architecture, winner of the product-service provider category.

The awards competition sponsored by Golf Inc. is aimed at recognizing golf courses and companies that have adopted programs and practices designed to promote environmental sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship.

Judges for the competition were Michael Hurdzan of Hurdzan-Fry Golf Course Design, Greg Lyman, GCSAA director of environmental programs, and John Crowder, ValleyCrest Golf Course Maintenance.

"We are pleased to be able to honor the outstanding efforts of these courses and companies in embracing effective environmental programs and practices," said Chase Peckham, associate publisher of Golf Inc. "It is rewarding to see how many operators have incorporated environmental sustainability into their day-to-day operations."
