Jack Healan, president of Amelia Island Plantation, has received the prestigious education award " signified by a pineapple " from the Florida Restaurant &amp; Lodging Association Educational Foundation. He was chosen for his outstanding service to the Lodging Management Program.<br />

Healan was nominated by Rochelle Stanfill, director of Tampas International Academy of Resort Operations at Jefferson High School, where, for the last seven years, Amelia Island Plantation has had a partnership with the school. According to Stanfill, The partnership has set a benchmark for business education which we hope other businesses will try to achieve. <br />

In more awards news, Amelia Island Plantation has been given the 2008 Award of Excellence from Corporate &amp; Incentive Travel magazine. Resorts were selected by subscribers who voted for the properties that best served their corporate meetings and/or incentive travel programs during the last year.<br />

Jack Healan, president of Amelia Island Company, has been named one of the first two inductees into the Floridas First Coast of Golf Hall of Fame. Healan was a founding member in 1992 and an early leader for this destination marketing organization tasked with promoting golf and golf travel to Northeast Florida.<br />

Jack was instrumental in conceiving Floridas First Coast of Golf and making it a reality, said David Reese, president of Floridas First Coast of Golf. His support for golf travel has been unwavering for the past 16 years.<br />

			<description><![CDATA[In its first year of selections, Golf Digest has named Amelia Island Plantation one of its top 10 Green Golf resorts in 2008. In addition to this environmental selection, the magazine also awarded the Amelia Island Plantation courses its Silver Medal designation for the 13th year in a row.<br />
Some of the aspect's that entered into the designation are that:<br />
 *The property's four courses -- Amelia River (public welcome), Long Point (member preferred), Oak Marsh and Ocean Links - are Audubon sanctuary certified courses. <br />

			<description><![CDATA[With its recent Green Lodging designation celebration beginning, Amelia Island Plantation has teamed up with GenPower, a Jacksonville company dedicated to solar power products and solutions. The joint venture includes solar powered fountains in water and several golf carts for use throughout the property.<br />

"We could not be more thrilled about our new partnership with GenPower," said Bill Di Stanisloa, director of The Spa at Amelia Island Plantation and director of the resort's Green Team. "The Davis family is committed to alternative energy sources as much as our resort and we're lucky to have a chance to work with them on this project." <br />

AMELIA ISLAND - Amelia Island Plantation has received the coveted and hard-won Green Lodging destination certification from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The ceremony to award the certification will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at the resort's gazebo outside its Spa and Shops village. The voluntary state initiative provides the lodging industry with technical assistance by encouraging hotels and motels to adopt cost-saving "green" practices that reduce waste and conserve natural resources.<br />
